The new product was announced by the chief chairman of directors of Audi AG Rupert Stadler. Sales are scheduled to start in 2020.

The announcement of the start of development of a new electric vehicle by Audi allowed the A9 e-tron to gain intrigue among electric vehicles at the show. The basis of this car will be the ready-made base of the previous model Q6 e-tron. However, the Audi A9 e-tron will not be similar to this model.

In addition to technical data, manufacturers intend to pay special attention to both the external and internal appearance of the electric vehicle. Thus, the company is going to impress not only from the technical side, but also from the tuning side, which will allow it to compete with other luxury cars.

Originally, the A9 name had to belong to a different type of car, which would later compete with top-class cars such as Bentley or Mercedes-Benz. But the developers changed their strategy and launched a project to create an electric car with 3 engines. This model shared the main base with the Q6 e-tron.

In turn, the predecessor is planned to be released no earlier than 2018. The presentation of its prototype took place back in September 2015 in Frankfurt at the auto show. The platform for both models is the MLB Evo from the Volkswagen Group. It also served as the basis for most other cars of this brand, including the Audi Q7. At the moment, only the basic technical data of the Audi A9 e-tron is known. For example, it has already been announced that the sedan will include 3 engines with a capacity of 500 horsepower. It will be possible to charge this electric car at any special power station or with the help of a new system of wireless electricity transmission, namely induction charging. Their power is 11 kW.

The total battery capacity in the car is 95 kW. The developers promise that the course of this car will be about 500 km, which is pretty good performance. A special coolant will be included in the engine batteries. The battery will be placed under the floor of the Audi A9 e-tron car. The gearbox will imply two types of driving modes, namely Sport and Drive.

It is also known that asynchronous motors will be used, which the car company considers to be the best and most efficient. The principle of their work is that the transmission of torque is uneven and depends on the road grip.

Another unique innovation in the Audi A9 e-tron electric car is the integrated level 4 autopilot system. The system is activated at a speed of about 60 km / h, however, on condition of out-of-city roads. This system has already been introduced in the A8 range, but its autopilot system is one level below.
