The Geneva Auto Show will be held in 2022 after a two-year hiatus. The date of the event, main details and other details have been disclosed.

The beginning of the COVID-19 quarantine has made many changes in everyday life and in the world of cars. At first, it was very difficult to predict the release of new models, the further development of automakers and other situations related to cars. One of these troubles was the cancellation of all car shows. Some took place at the worst of times, but COVID-19 has made a difference.

After two years of inactivity due to quarantine, the organizers of the Geneva Auto Show announced the resumption of the event. According to reports from GIMS, full registration for this exhibition is already open. The exhibition itself will take place at the Palexpo exhibition center. For journalists, the Geneva Motor Show will be held from 17 to 18 February 2022, but for everyone who wishes, the doors of the exhibition center will open from 19 to 27 February.

Interested parties will be able to apply for participation by mid-July 2021. Thus, the number of participants and the further development of the exhibition will be determined. Visitors are promised to present a unique exhibition in Geneva, which has never happened before. The organizers decided to take such a step because of a two-year downtime. Thus, they want to attract the maximum number of applicants.

It is from the moment of registration that the preparations for the Geneva auto show in 2022 officially begin. GIMS is very hopeful that the situation with the COVID-19 quarantine will stabilize and improve. After all, the introduction of a new quarantine or the deterioration of the situation with the pandemic will again disrupt the exhibition, which means another financial loss.

As a reminder, the Geneva Motor Show was usually held in March. The last time a full-fledged exhibition was held in March 2019. As of 2019, 184 companies took part in the Geneva Motor Show then, and more than 600 thousand people attended the exhibition. In 2020, the exhibition was canceled a week before the start. It was in 2020, just before the beginning of the world, that the coronavirus pandemic began.

As of March 2020, the Swiss authorities revoked all permits for any events where the number of participants exceeded 1000 people. A few days later, the permits for smaller events were also revoked. According to reports, then the Geneva auto show suffered financial losses in the amount of 11 million Swiss francs, which translates to about 12.2 million US dollars. The year 2021 passed unchanged for the Geneva Motor Show, the exhibition did not take place for the same reasons due to the coronavirus.
