Chinese cars are increasingly appearing on the roads of Russia. Often, for many motorists, a Chinese car is something of poor quality, poor assembly and lasts a maximum of several years. Nevertheless, progress is going on and with it the design and quality of Chinese cars are changing. Manufacturers did not skimp on comfort and safety systems, and also improved the metal of cars.

One of these brands is Wey, which is a subsidiary of Great Wall. We have already talked about the fact that the Wei company will enter the Russian market in the near future. It is reliably known that at least two models will arrive at dealerships, the VV5 and VV7 models. There's a chance the P8's hybrid trim could do the same. The VV6 model remains in question. This is the fourth copy of the company, which can also come to Russia.

Externally, the new crossover Wei VV6 resembles the previously named copies of the VV7 and VV5, but the design is most suitable for the VV5. Despite the similarities, the new product received modified exterior and interior details. Under the hood of the Chinese crossover, a turbocharged gasoline engine with a volume of 2.0 liters and a robotic gearbox with front-wheel drive have been preserved.

Despite the fact that the Wey VV6 crossover was prepared on the basis of existing models, it was recognized as one of the best in terms of design. In addition, it most of all fits the European standards, to which the manufacturer is striving so hard. Let's take a closer look at the Chinese crossover, interior and exterior, as well as technical characteristics.

As already mentioned, the appearance of the new Wey VV6 resembles the VV5 model in many ways, but there are also those features that distinguish and make the model unique. The front of the new crossover looks austere and modern at the same time. The central part was taken under the radiator grill with a large mesh insert and a chrome emblem in the center.

The front optics of the new Wey VV6 are different from other models of the company. The designers deliberately narrowed it closer to the center and made it open on the sides. Depending on the configuration, the optics can be halogen or full LED. To add more rigor, LED daytime running lights with square lenses were built into the optics.

Complementing the strict character of the Wey VV6 crossover, the hood, which lies on top of the optics, thereby imitating the "eyebrows". The hood itself received a curved edge and a slightly lowered central part. The last part of the front end of the Chinese VV6 is of course the bumper.

The bumper is somewhat similar in shape to the VV7, but with a more open additional radiator grille. Here, sensors, sensors and plastic underbody protection are located in the center. Added vertical LED fog lights on the sides of the bumper. If necessary, they can also serve as an additional high beam.

On the side, the new Wei VV6 crossover is rather unique than copied from existing models. The first difference is the location of the side mirrors. Most of the Wey crossovers have them on the door panels, the VV6 was an exception, where the designers placed mirrors in the corner of the front windows. In terms of functionality, nothing depends on the configuration, the basic configuration received an electric adjustment drive, LED turn signal repeaters, automatic folding and heating.

Another significant difference between the Wey VV6 and other models is the location of the door handles. Both the front and the rear are practically located in one line, which cannot be said about the VV7 model or the hybrid P8. From design moments, a minimum of unnecessary details - stamping at the bottom of the doors and a smooth bend from the front fender to the rear stops.

Having seen the new Wey VV6 for the first time, it's hard to say that this is the Chinese auto industry. The crossover is tastefully made, with consistent features, austere details and a moderate amount of chrome parts around the body. As for the colors of Wei VV6, here, for the most part, strict shades were provided for the buyer's choice:

It is possible that depending on the country of delivery, the Wey VV6 body color palette may change. The crossover is based on 18 ″ alloy wheels with 235/60 tires. The rest of the configurations received 19 ″ tires with 235/55 tires. It can be seen that the margin of space between the wheels and arches is small, respectively, larger diameter discs can be installed only by reducing the profile of the tires.

The new Wey VV6 looks pretty good and stern from the back. Small elongated LED feet, chrome horizontal line and brand lettering in the center of the boot lid. Emphasizes rigor and power, twin tips of the exhaust system, not a dummy, but namely working 4 exhaust tips. The central lower part of the bumper was taken away under a glossy plastic insert, but this is more likely to be too much, since it will have to be washed and cleaned very often, especially considering the cleanliness of the streets.

There are also small drawbacks to the new product, in particular the trunk lid. Firstly, the loading height is not the lowest and the shopping bags will have to be lifted up all the time. Secondly, the opening height of the trunk lid is also not large, respectively, a tall person will constantly bang his head. Still, this kind of rear end, with a slight slope of the rear window, is many times more attractive, in other words "classic", which will not lose its style over the years.

The final detail of the Wei VV6 exterior is the roof. I would like to say right away that even the basic configuration of the crossover received a good set of functions, which is not always found in the top of other brands. The standard list includes an electric sunroof, roof rails for attaching an additional trunk and a shark fin antenna.

In total, the exterior of the Wey VV6 turned out to be pretty, like for a Chinese crossover. The designers used a minimum of chrome-plated parts, and also perfectly kept the proportion of the ratio of the size of the wheels to the total size of the body. As they say, strictly, tastefully and nothing superfluous. It becomes clear that if the crossover is also reliable in terms of resistance to corrosion and similar moments, then it can become a significant competitor for inexpensive European cars.

If the appearance of the Wey VV6 differs from other models of the manufacturer, then the designers decided not to bother with the interior, making it look like other copies of the brand. We can say this is the standard design for this car manufacturer. The central part of the panel was taken under the 8 ″ touchscreen display of the multimedia system, based on Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The list of multimedia functions includes voice control, gesture recognition, synchronization with smartphones and remote control. Thanks to the presence of a touch screen, many crossover control functions have been transferred to it.

The end part of the Wey VV6 torpedo was occupied by round air ducts resembling aircraft turbines. Another round duct was placed on the sides of the panel. The maximum that can still be noted on the front panel is the engine start-stop button, a full-width plastic visor and an insert for polished aluminum.

The central tunnel Wei VV6 turned out to be more diverse. At the very beginning, they placed the climate control panel, wrapped in the driver's side. Under the climate, there is a small depression for storing small things, as well as recharging gadgets from a 12V outlet, USB port and wireless charging. Most of the function buttons for safety and comfort systems are located along the gear lever.Among the main controls: a button for an electromechanical handbrake, control of quick access to cameras, as well as a washer for controlling modes of movement and a multimedia system. A massive armrest pumps the central part, depending on the configuration it can be simple, with a spacious compartment for small items, as well as with cooling system for drinks. On the reverse side, the armrest was equipped with an air supply control panel, a pair of air ducts and a USB port for recharging gadgets.

Wei's VV6 crossover seats were practically relocated from other models. The first row received a moderately high backrest, adjustable headrests and a little lateral support. Electric seat adjustment, the driver's seat can be adjusted in 12 directions, the front passenger in 8 directions. It is interesting that only in the middle Luxury configuration there will be memory for three modes, but for some reason the top configuration was deprived of such a function. With the add-on, there is only heating of the first row, the airflow of the seats is provided only in the top version.

The second row of crossover seats is designed for free landing of 3 passengers. The folding ratio is 60/40, which is enough if you need to increase the luggage compartment. As a material for the VV6 upholstery, the manufacturer used high-quality natural leather; in the basic configuration, there is a choice between fabric upholstery, leather or a combination of fabric and leather. The interior colors are not very diverse, you can choose between black, brown and beige shades.

Finally, consider the Wei VV6 driver's seat, since there is something to surprise even in the basic configuration of the crossover. The dashboard of the novelty is completely digital, based on a 12.3 ″ color display. Depending on the wishes of the buyer, you can choose one of the standard stitched modes or customize the arrangement of the devices to your liking.

The steering wheel also turned out to be a modern design, leather upholstery, a little flattened at the bottom. The standard set includes function buttons, heating and paddles for gear shifting. You can adjust the steering wheel in height or in reach, and all this starting from the basic configuration. This is not to say that the interior of the new Wey VV6 is standard or looks cheap. The manufacturer decided to maintain its own style, diversifying the interior with individual details. Thus, changing from one Wey model to another, the driver will not feel much discomfort.

As with most Chinese cars, you should not expect much choice among the technical characteristics. The new Wey VV6 crossover was no exception, the buyer was offered only one gasoline turbocharged engine and a robotic transmission with front or all-wheel drive. By the way, yes, surprisingly, the top-end configurations received a proprietary AWD all-wheel drive, with automatic or semi-automatic control.

The suspension of the Wey VV6 crossover does not differ in special details and is completely independent. MacPherson struts are installed in the front, but a double wishbone independent suspension is installed in the back. The manufacturer did not save on the braking system, both front and rear ventilated disc brakes are installed.

As already mentioned, the basis for the new Wey VV6 was 18 ″ or 19 ″ alloy wheels, depending on the configuration. As for the spare wheel, here is just not a full-size version, that is, a stowaway. A huge plus that this crossover was presented with front or all-wheel drive, which is not often found in Chinese-made crossovers. The downside, of course, is that there is no variety among the units, because this is an important factor.

In addition to the attractive exterior and modern interior design, the new Wey VV6 crossover will surprise with a good list of safety and comfort systems. The manufacturer did not save money, and even the basic configuration will be able to boast of those systems that are not available in European counterparts, while the price of the car is lower. Among themselves, the configurations for the most part differ in functional filling, although the Wey VV6 model is also different in terms of technical characteristics (the presence of front or all-wheel drive). It is possible that as new safety or comfort systems arrive, they will be installed on new produced copies of this model.

Despite the fact that the specifications in the Wey VV6 are almost the same, the buyer will have plenty to choose from. In the automotive market in the Middle Kingdom, this model is sold at full speed. In Russia, the new VV6 should appear closer to the spring of 2020. Nevertheless, the list of complete sets and prices is already known, although for the Russian Federation they can be modernized taking into account climatic conditions.

According to the reviews of many motorists, with the appearance of the Wey brand on the Russian market, European counterparts can get a serious competitor. This will not only be a blow to production, but, of course, to pricing policy. The Chinese manufacturer will do its utmost to reduce the cost of the crossover as much as possible, thereby creating not the best conditions for competitors.
