Automotive progress of the VAG concern, in particular the Audi brand, is on the way to improving the comfort and safety for the driver and passengers, increasing the dynamism of the car. The newer the Audi car, the more technically advanced it is.
The "cleverness" of the systems casts doubt on the issue of reliability. It will take time and some statistics of work and breakdowns to accumulate before it becomes clear how reliable the car is.
It cannot be said that the old Audi is more reliable. The complication of technology goes hand in hand with the elimination of previously admitted shortcomings, and modern materials and parts are technologically more advanced. Therefore, we will look at new cars through the existing reliability data after several years of operation.
Audi is significantly expanding its lineup in 2020, presenting updated modifications of popular cars.
Reliable Audi
1. TT
The compact coupe TT was released in 1998. The first generation stayed afloat until 2006. In the second generation, the car was put on a lightweight and durable body made of aluminum-steel alloy. The third generation, high-tech and high-profile, has been on sale since 2015.
In 2020, the car has radically changed its body design, in line with the preferences of premium buyers. The Sport model is a charged, aggressive car with a powerful engine (420 hp). Simpler modifications demonstrate the power of the power unit 230/310 hp.
The concept has a 4x4 drive and surpasses all previous modifications "by the head". The engine is traditionally aggregated with a transmission of your choice. Front-wheel drive with 6-speed "mechanics" or 7-band "automatic" is offered.
The technical parameters of the new Audi can boast not only of a pumped-over power unit, but also an excellent suspension and a wonderful steering system, as well as numerous automatic assistants. All the shortcomings of past generations have been taken into account.
From the very first generation, the car has not left the leading lines in various ratings that determine the reliability of VAG products. In the comprehensive rating for the reliability of used vehicles (TUV Report) in 2019, the model won the fifth place in the age category under five years old, and third - under seven years old.
In Russia, the cost of a car starts at 2.7 million rubles. It can only be purchased as a coupe. For Europe, the body is provided in six versions.
2. A1
The most budgetary representative of the brand after the update received significantly better characteristics than the previous model. The compact car received a new platform MQB-A0, allowing to increase the size of the subcompact.
The second generation A1 has a striking, dynamic design and state-of-the-art equipment, as well as premium materials, which increases the attractiveness of the car in its segment.
There is no alternative to the A1 - a five-door hatchback with petrol engines: a liter one with variations of 95/116 hp, a 1.5-liter one with a capacity of 150 hp, a two-liter one with 200 hp. The box is a "mechanic" with six steps, a seven-band "robot" is available only as an additional option.
The small A1 feels great in the city, being dynamic and reliable. It has the general problems of the VAG concern and some noise in the cabin. There are no complaints about the engine and chassis - the problems that were present in the previous years of production were minimized by the engineers of the concern.
The car is not for sale in Russia yet.
3. A4 / A5
These two models are often combined into a single group, although the Quartet is a stable four-door city sedan with a quiet engine, and the Quartet is a squat sport-class liftback.
The first generation of the Audi A4 was produced on the basis of the VW Passat with increased passive safety and additionally developed directional stability. The release was carried out in the period 1994-2001. During this time of release, the model has gone through five generations.
The last, fifth generation, has a high-tech "filling", an elegant appearance and a designer interior, corresponding to the status of a family and, at the same time, a working car. The build quality is not satisfactory, and the reliability is very high.
The engine line-up has expanded, giving customers the choice between petrol and diesel powertrains ranging from 135 to 245 hp. In Russia, A4 is estimated at 2.3 million rubles for the basic configuration.
The TUV Report rating assesses the reliability of a car not older than 3 years in tenth position, allowing only 3.3% of possible breakdowns. In the category of older cars up to five years, the Audi A4 is ranked 26th, which corresponds to 7% of breakdowns.
The most unreliable are considered to be two-liter gasoline-powered power units, which tend to eat up oil upon reaching 100 thousand km of run, provoking intensive formation of carbon deposits and the production of engine parts. Similar reliability indicators correspond to the A4 sports modification - the A5 liftback.
4. A6 Allroad
The first Audi A6 appeared in 1994, replacing the predecessor Audi 100. The second generation of the model rolled off the assembly line in 1997, becoming the most popular car of the brand in Russia.
During the third and fourth generations, the shortcomings of the previous versions were corrected, making the model extremely attractive to buyers. Excellent galvanizing, roomy and comfortable interior, full quattro-drive, reliability of gasoline engines (as opposed to capricious diesel engines), spacious trunk brought the car the glory of an unkillable workhorse.
The 2020 SUV wagon has a protective plastic body kit and a modified radiator grill. The proprietary all-wheel drive system is made with a self-locking center differential and an automatic 8-zone transmission.
The rating of three-year-old A6 models in terms of reliability brought the A6 to 13th place, and five-year-old cars to 14. Seven-year-olds moved up several positions, taking seventh place. This confirms the reliability that manifests itself over time.
5.Q3 Sportback
The concept car appeared in 2007, and the car entered mass production in 2011. Since 2018, the second generation of coupe crossovers is already on sale. The differences between the Q3 and Q3 Sportback are minor in terms of the lowered roof height and the dynamic appearance of the sporty design. The interior is almost the same, only the Sportback has 125 liters of trunk less.
The power units are represented by three gasoline and two diesel engines with a power range of 150-230 hp. The front-wheel drive transmission is equipped with a six-speed "mechanics" or a seven-speed "robot".
According to TUV Report, the Q3 model ranks fifth in the group among vehicles of different manufacturers 2-3 years old. In the rating of transport reliability up to 5 years, the car takes 21 place.
6.Q7
The Q7 model line appeared in 2005. The second generation, which went on sale since 2015, radically changed the exterior and interior, changing the original platform.
The car has become smaller in size, but technical tweaks have made the interior more spacious. The standard and optional equipment lists have expanded significantly.
For 2020, Audi is offering a post-styled Q7 with a modern design and an ergonomic, spacious interior that closely resembles the interior of the Q8.
The crossover is equipped with three engines. Gasoline units are designed for 230 or 285 hp, and the turbodiesel engine - for 340 hp. The transmission for all-wheel drive is equipped with a seven-speed S-tronic "robot".
The new SUV is not recommended to be used for off-road "pokatushek" where lowering and high ground clearance are required. It was created for the urban jungle and open spaces of the tracks.

The new cars are offered with a turbocharged three-liter diesel engine with 350 hp. electrically turbocharged. The motor is aggregated with an 8-stage hydro-automatic.
The car is produced for the European market only. The manufacturer positions it as a reliable car for fans of the A4 family, redesigned, supplemented and "wiser" relative to the "progenitor" version. In terms of reliability, most likely, it will not be inferior to the A4 version, or even surpass it.
8.S8
The Audi S8 sedan, "sharpened" for the sport, appeared in the summer of last year. It is based on the representative model A8. The body of the car is identical to a regular sedan with a slight difference in the design of the mirrors and bumpers. The interior remains the same as in the original sedan.
Reliable gasoline V-shaped engine produces 570 hp of thrust. The car is equipped with an advanced system of assistants and assistants. In comparison with the previous modification, "diseases" have been fixed, the list of options and technological filling have been expanded.
